About Us

Put Children First is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding the emotional and psychological well-being of children impacted by parental separation and divorce. The organization supports equal shared parenting, cooperative co-parenting, and research-based advocacy to ensure that children maintain meaningful and healthy relationships with both parents whenever it is safe and appropriate. Through education, outreach, and strategic partnerships, the organization creates initiatives that empower families and promote child centered solutions.

The organization operates through a collaborative leadership model involving directors, board members, and volunteers who work together to provide programs, research, and community support. This leadership structure ensures a strong foundation for developing initiatives that support mental health, academic success, and emotional stability for children. Through ongoing partnerships and public engagement, the organization is committed to creating environments where children thrive.

Commitment: Approximately 10-12 hours per month

Position Summary

The Director of Children’s Wellbeing & Community Outreach provides leadership for initiatives that promote healthy childhood development, strengthen family connections, and expand community engagement. This role helps ensure that the voice and needs of children remain central to the organization’s programs, partnerships, and public education efforts.

Working collaboratively with community organizations, educators, healthcare professionals, and volunteers, the Director will help develop initiatives that encourage resilience, cooperation, and emotional wellbeing during family transition.

As Director of Children’s Wellbeing & Community Outreach, you will help strengthen relationships between the organization and the communities it serves. Through education, outreach, and collaboration, you will help create opportunities for families to access information, resources, and support that encourage healthier outcomes for children.

Responsibilities

• Develop community outreach initiatives and educational programs.
• Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and family service providers.
• Coordinate public awareness activities and local engagement events.
• Support child-centred educational resources and workshops.
• Identify emerging community needs and recommend new initiatives.
• Collaborate with regional leadership teams across Canada.
• Assist with volunteer engagement and community participation.

Qualifications

• Background in child development, education, social work, public health, community development, or a related field.
• Experience developing community programs or partnerships.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to children’s wellbeing.
