The organization supports equal shared parenting, cooperative co-parenting, and research-based advocacy to ensure that children maintain meaningful and healthy relationships with both parents whenever it is safe and appropriate. The organization operates through a collaborative leadership model involving directors, board members, and volunteers who work together to provide programs, research, and community support. Position Summary

The Director of Mental Health Outreach provides strategic leadership in promoting mental health awareness and emotional wellbeing for children and families experiencing separation or divorce. This role helps ensure that Put Children First’s programs, partnerships, and educational initiatives reflect current understanding of mental wellness, resilience, and early intervention.

Working alongside healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, and community organizations, the Director will strengthen awareness of the emotional challenges children may face during family transition while encouraging supportive, child-centred approaches that foster hope, healing, and healthy development.

About the Opportunity

A child’s emotional wellbeing influences every aspect of their development. During periods of family transition, children often experience uncertainty, grief, confusion, or anxiety. When these experiences are met with understanding, stability, and appropriate support, children are better equipped to adapt and thrive.

The Director of Mental Health Outreach will help Put Children First promote conversations that reduce stigma, encourage early intervention, and connect families with trusted resources. This role recognizes that emotional health is just as important as physical health and that communities play an essential role in helping children feel safe, heard, and supported.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organization’s mental health awareness initiatives.
• Develop educational resources promoting emotional wellbeing.
• Build partnerships with mental health organizations and professionals.
• Support webinars, workshops, and public education campaigns.
• Advise leadership on mental health best practices.
• Promote early intervention and prevention initiatives.
• Contribute to organizational publications and educational materials.

Qualifications

• Background in psychology, counselling, psychiatry, social work, nursing, public health, or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting children, youth, or families.
• Knowledge of child development and mental health promotion.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Registration with a professional regulatory body is considered an asset.
