Put Children First is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding the emotional and psychological well-being of children impacted by parental separation and divorce. The organization supports equal shared parenting, cooperative co-parenting, and research-based advocacy to ensure that children maintain meaningful and healthy relationships with both parents whenever it is safe and appropriate. Through education, outreach, and strategic partnerships, the organization creates initiatives that empower families and promote child centered solutions.
The organization operates through a collaborative leadership model involving directors, board members, and volunteers who work together to provide programs, research, and community support. This leadership structure ensures a strong foundation for developing initiatives that support mental health, academic success, and emotional stability for children. Status: Unpaid Volunteer
Commitment: Approximately 5-10 hours per month
Term: 2 years
About the Role
The Treasurer plays a key governance role in ensuring financial accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
This role supports the Board of Directors by overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with best practices.
It is a critical position for maintaining trust and organizational integrity.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial records and reporting
- Review budgets and financial statements
- Support financial planning and oversight
- Ensure transparency and compliance
- Report to the Board on financial matters
Qualifications
- Background in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Understanding of nonprofit financial management
- Experience in governance is an asset
